Study: UD graduates get and keep jobs better than at other Ohio schools

More University of Dayton students are employed 10 years after graduation than any other school in Ohio, a new study has found.

A decade removed from the classroom, almost 95 percent of UD graduates have jobs earning a median salary of $58,500, according to study conducted by the career website Zippia.

UD ranked 13th among the top schools in each state, according to the results derived from the U.S. Department of Education National Center for Education Statistics data.

Nearly half of UD’s graduates find employment within Ohio. The remainder are employed in at least 42 other states and abroad, according the university.

In a 2015 study by The Higher Education Research Institute at UCLA , slightly more than 60 percent of incoming college freshmen say getting a good job after graduation is “very important.” That number had climbed seven percentage points in two years.

Salary potential is also good for UD graduates.

In January, the website PayScale reported that graduates with bachelor's degrees from UD earn an average $52,700 a year early in their careers and $90,200 mid-way through their careers.

A UD-conducted survey in January of recent graduates found that 96 percent of respondents reported being employed, pursuing a graduate degree or participating in a service program within six months of graduation.

"These reports affirm the value of a University of Dayton education, which provides our students the resources, hands-on work experiences and research opportunities that set them up for this success," said Jason Eckert, director of career services. "This also is a testament to our students' hard work and achievement that result in good jobs after graduation.”
