Tax return event fun and informational in Middletown

Little Logan Cresong got his face painted like Spiderman while his mom Crystal, a mother of five, got her taxes done for free during the Super Saturday Tax Prep Day at the Middletown community center on Saturday.

“It’s a big plus because you don’t have to pay anY extra money that some places might charge you,” Cresong said. “And it gives you a chance to let the kids play and interact with other kids.”

Residents who earn $64,000 or less were invited to come and have their state, federal and local income taxes done during the event put on by United Way, First Financial Bank, the Ohio Healthier Buckeye Committee, the Robert “Sonny” Hill Community Center and Life Span.

This was the first time the annual event was held at the community center and it allowed kids to have fun in a giant bouncy house, get their faces painted and just run around and have fun.

Robie Suggs, director of Economic Development and Community Outreach with First Financial Bank, said the day wasn’t just about taxes and bouncy houses, it was also about giving people the tools to manage their money.

“We don’t want them to just come here and say ‘okay I got my taxes done’,” she said. “We also want them to have information for their financial well being.”
