Laptops to borrow
A laptop lending machine will allow anyone with a library card to check out a Windows PC. The laptop can only be used in the library but allows patrons to use it in front of the fireplace, in a conference room or in a comfortable chair by a window.
Light flooding in
The new library is filled with natural light. Two stories of windows highlight the main area of the library referred to as the "market place." Lighting styles seperate the different areas of the library. Pendant lights complement the natural sunlight.
Children's area
A colorful portal leads the way to the children's portion of the library. A meadow is the theme of this library which was decided by residents of the neighborhood surrounding the library. There is also has an enclosed patio for children and an amphitheatre will built in the future.
Cozy atmosphere
A dual sided gas fireplace will create a cozy atmosphere for the open reading room and the quiet reading room.
TeenEdge
Books and other materials are available for teenagers in the "TeenEdge" section of the library and so is a monitor and chairs for gaming.
Easy returns
Patrons can return materials to the library with this machine located in the library lobby. The window at left allows patrons to watch their materials, attached with an RFID tag, travel on a conveyor belt and drop into the appropriate return basket.
Lobby lockers
If a patron would like to pick up materials after hours the lobby lockers are available. By entering a code a drawer will slide open with the requested materials available 24 hours a day.
Fun furniture
Whimsical furniture styles and groupings are found throughout the library. Colors and shapes tie in the library's meadow theme in the children's area.
Third Perk cafe
A cafe and bakery will be run by Third Perk Express offering fresh coffee and baked goods.
Ohio-created art
The new library is filled with art by four Ohio artists. This is a detail of a rubber, stainless steel and wood sculpture suspended in the cafe space by artist Virginia Kistler of Columbus.
Well-lit
Colored windows create the feeling of being inside a piece of modern art. Pendant lights of various shapes and sizes add interest to different areas of the library.
