A West Chester Twp. man is being held in the Butler County jail after a grand jury indicted him on kidnapping and aggravated robbery charges for trying to take a U.S. Postal truck.
Charles Warren, 48, of West Chester Twp. allegedly overtook a postal worker in 7900 block of Third Street at around noon on Jan. 31 and tried to force her at gunpoint to take him to Interstate 75.
Township spokeswoman Barb Wilson said a neighbor was able to intervene and get him off the truck. Warren then allegedly dropped the gun and sat down on the pavement with his hands up. Video from West Chester’s police body cam show Warren surrendering to police.
He has been charged with first degree felony aggravated robbery and fifth degree felony kidnapping. He is being held on $1 million bond.
