The presidential search committee and Wright State trustees are expected to choose between Deborah Ford, chancellor of the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, and Cheryl Schrader, chancellor of the Missouri University of Science and Technology.
The withdrawal of a third candidate last week means Wright State’s next president will be a woman, a first in the university’s 50-year history. Dennis Shields, chancellor of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, withdrew his name from consideration last week without a reason.
No trustee meetings have been announced for further deliberations. Trustees met in executive session twice last week to discuss the candidates.
Trustee and chairman of the search committee, Doug Fecher, has said the board would like to make a decision soon and said trustees would likely name a new president before the original goal of April. Trustees may continue deliberating for the next few weeks though, Michael Bridges, chairman of the board of trustees said on Friday.
