The event is open to the public and the YWCA is hoping the public will show up and share their questions and observations with its director.
5 things to know about Wendy Waters-Connell
She has served as the director of an organization: Prior to this new role, Waters-Connell served as executive director/CEO for the Quaker Heights Care Community for more than 18 years.
Waters-Connell is familiar with Hamilton: She has been in Hamilton for almost 30 years and is a graduate of New Miami High School. Waters-Connell earned an undergraduate nursing degree from Miami University through a scholarship from Fort Hamilton Hospital.
Family has strong ties to the city: Waters-Connell has been in Hamilton since getting married to her husband Christopher (a lifelong Hamilton resident and HHS grad) in 1988. The couple has two sons, David, 21, a senior at Miami University, and Jackson, 18, a senior at Hamilton High School.
She takes over for a Miami University grad who was serving as interim director: Dr. Lee Sanders of Miami University had been serving as interim but did not take on the full-time role.
Waters-Connell is hopeful the YWCA Hamilton will continue to have a positive impact on the area: She said the new position offers the challenge of discussing societal issues and finding solutions to help make gains for women and all members of the community.
