Feel the luck of the Irish with these St. Patrick’s Day menus

When it comes to imbibing on St. Patrick’s Day, you don’t have to look very hard to find spots offering specials on beer and booze.

Most bars across the region will offer specials on drinks for St. Patrick’s Day on March 17. Most notably in my mind Dublin Pub, Flanagan’s, The Pub and Harrigan’s Tavern bring the party.

Wine, food festival finds new home for 2015

For the second time in its 24-year history, Dayton’s largest wine-and-food festival has parted ways with Carillon Park.

The 2015 Fleurs et Vin will be held May 17 at Welcome Park, behind UD Arena and Welcome Stadium in Dayton, the event’s organizers announced Saturday on its Facebook page. The outdoor wine event, which benefits local charities, was held at Carillon Park for a few years following its inception in 1990, spent several years at Lincoln Park Commons in Kettering, and returned to Carillon Park in 2001, where it has been held for the last 13 years.

In fact, we’re the world’s thirstiest consumer of the beverage, drinking an average of three cups a day per person. That totals up to be around 587 million cups or coffee — give or take — that accounts for $30 billion a year in sales.
