3 Bengals miss practice as team preps for Steelers

Three Cincinnati Bengals missed practice Thursday, including starting linebacker Nick Vigil and starting safety Shawn Williams.

Linebacker Vinny Rey also sat out, which means the team could be thin at the position Monday night against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Williams and Rey missed Sunday’s win against Cleveland with hamstring injuries, but both were doing rehab work on the side field Thursday. Nick Vigil left the Browns game with an ankle injury and was not at practice during the portion open to the media.

Vigil was wearing a walking boot in the locker room Wednesday and Thursday.

If Rey is able to play, he would start for Vigil against the Steelers. But if neither linebacker is able to play, the Bengals would be forced to start rookie sixth-round pick Jordan Evans.

Tight end Tyler Kroft was listed as limited with the wrist injury he suffered two weeks ago at Denver, while left tackle Cedric Ogbuehi was limited with a shoulder injury.

For the Steelers, five players sat out Thursday — linebacker James Harrison (knee), cornerback Joe Haden (fibula), safety Mike Mitchell (ankle), linebacker Ryan Shazier (ankle) and tight end Vance McDonald (ankle).

Pittsburgh wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster was a full participant for the second consecutive day after missing the Green Bay game due to a hamstring injury.
