Burfict leaves practice early with ankle injury

Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict’s day went from bad to worse when he suffered an ankle injury that forced him to leave practice early just a few hours after being fined $75,000 by the NFL for stepping on the leg of New England running back LeGarrette Blount.

Burfict suffered the injury during the portion of practice not open to the media, but head coach Marvin Lewis confirmed it forced the linebacker to leave early. Lewis said the injury is not believed to be serious.

The team listed Burfict as limited on the practice report.

Tight end Tyler Eifert (ankle/back) also was listed as limited in his first practice since Oct. 3.

Carolina coach Martin wants to make Kentucky 'uncomfortable' today

Fittingly, some would say, Frank Martin uses a boxing analogy to describe South Carolina's approach to playing basketball. It is not made-for-TV watch-this highlight. It is old-school sweat and effort.  "I've been in the ring and I boxed," Martin said Thursday. "If we were boxing, we're not going in there to dance and run around...

HS Basketball: Springfield will take a shot at top-ranked Moeller

Springfield will be looking to do what Alter couldn’t last week, beat undefeated and top-ranked Cincinnati Moeller. Alter fell 60-46 to Moeller in the 8th Annual Kevin C. Barnhill Coaches Showcase at Little Miami High School in Morrow last Saturday. The matchup of Greater Catholic League boys high school basketball powers was part of a fund-raiser...

We're ready for you, college basketball. What'd we miss?

We've dissected the final moments of Clemson's come-from-behind victory in a game-for-the-ages national championship game. We have only three real NFL games left, and the next one isn't until Sunday. We have no more Cavs vs. Warriors until June, the NFL draft is way down the line and we're still in the dog days of the NHL. Now what? Welcome to...
In NFL betting, Patriots are closest to being a sure thing
In NFL betting, Patriots are closest to being a sure thing

A lot of different things could happen in the NFL conference championship games Sunday. But oddsmakers are pretty sure what is likely to happen. The New England Patriots will beat the Pittsburgh Steelers by about 6, and the Atlanta Falcons will defeat the Green Bay Packers by 4 or 5 in a high-scoring affair. One of the truisms of gambling is that...
