College Insider: Fairfield’s Hamblin three-peats as Horizon League’s POY

Macy Hamblin’s collegiate soccer career has ended with another Player of the Year award from the Horizon League.

The Northern Kentucky University senior forward and Fairfield High School graduate was named POY and Offensive Player of the Year for the third straight season as she tallied 10 goals and four assists this fall.

Hamblin had 33 goals and 26 assists in her career with the Norse, who finished 9-6-2 overall and 6-1-2 in the Horizon.

Senior midfielder Kayte Osterfeld (Fairfield) started every game this year and collected one assist for NKU. Freshman midfielder/forward Kailey Ivins (Monroe) had one goal and two assists and made five starts.

Football: Junior Billy Hinton (Fenwick) is a starting inside linebacker for Wofford, which is 9-1 overall and won the Southern Conference championship with a 7-1 mark.

Hinton totaled six tackles in last Saturday’s 45-14 victory over Virginia Military Institute. He’s played in seven games with seven solo tackles, nine assists and three tackles for loss.

Redshirt freshman fullback Andy Riazzi (Fenwick) has played in three games for the Terriers. He’s got two carries for 2 yards.

Wofford will close the regular season with a 4 p.m. road game against South Carolina on Saturday.

• Sophomore defensive back Zach Smith (Edgewood) played in every game this season for Otterbein, collecting four solo tackles, six assists and one tackle for loss.

The Cardinals finished 6-4 overall and 5-4 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. It’s their first winning record since 2012.

Volleyball: Mount St. Joseph junior middle blocker/outside hitter Cailey Plemmons (Talawanda) has been named honorable mention in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Plemmons was third in total blocks (54) and digs (221) for the Lions. She was also fourth in kills (165).

MSJ finished 13-14 overall and 3-6 in the HCAC.

Men's soccer: Freshman midfielder Alexander Narog (Lebanon) started eight games and scored two goals this year for Cedarville.

The Yellow Jackets finished 9-9-1 overall and 7-6-1 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.
