College Insider: West’s Cannatelli among top scorers for Dayton women

Lauren Cannatelli is the third-leading scorer for the University of Dayton women’s basketball team this season.

The junior guard and Lakota West High School graduate is averaging 11.8 points, 2.5 assists, 2.4 rebounds and 0.9 steals per game for the Flyers, who are 8-4 overall and 1-0 in the Atlantic 10 Conference.

Cannatelli is shooting 35.4 percent from 3-point range and 82.9 percent from the foul line. She leads UD with 28 treys.

Dayton hosts Rhode Island on Thursday at 7 p.m.

• Senior forward Stephanie Clark (Badin) leads Muskingum in blocks (1.6) and ranks second in rebounding (7.4).

Clark has started every game for the Fighting Muskies and is scoring 3.8 points per contest. She’s shooting 44.7 percent from the floor and 61.5 percent from the charity stripe.

Muskingum, 6-5 overall and 2-2 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, will host Marietta on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

• Freshman guard Jasmine Floyd (Lakota East) is averaging 15.2 minutes per game off the bench for Case Western Reserve (3-7).

Floyd is collecting 2.1 points, 1.2 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 0.8 steals per game for the Spartans, who will begin University Athletic Association play at home against Carnegie Mellon on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Men's swimming: Freshman Brice Dixon (Lebanon) notched a pair of third-place finishes for Malone in the Wooster Invitational, a three-day event that ended Dec. 2.

Dixon was third in the 100-yard butterfly (51.63) and 200 fly (1:56.07). He was also seventh in the 800 freestyle relay (7:12.18), ninth in the 200 free relay (1:27.65) and 400 free relay (3:13.71), 12th in the 200 medley relay (1:38.65) and 19th in the 50 free (22.15).

Case Western Reserve was the team champion with 1,899 points. Malone was eighth in the nine-team field with 498 points.

The Pioneers will host Baldwin Wallace on Jan. 12 at 6 p.m.
