Auburn defensive linemen Nick Coe, Big Kat Bryant make 2017 All-SEC freshman team

Two of the youngest contributors on Auburn football’s dominant defensive line from the 2017 season have received high honors from the SEC.

Auburn defensive ends Nick Coe and Big Kat Bryant were named to the 2017 All-SEC freshman team Thursday afternoon. The team was voted on by the league’s coaches, who weren’t able to select their own players.

Coe finished the regular season with 29 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss and 2 sacks. Coe, a redshirt freshman from North Carolina, was a two-time SEC freshman of the week winner during the regular season. He was also the SEC’s defensive lineman of the week after Auburn’s upset over Alabama in the Iron Bowl.

Bryant played in all but two games in the regular season as a true freshman. He had 2.5 tackles for loss and 2 sacks in SEC games as a reserve to Buck defensive end.

This is the second consecutive year in which Auburn has had two on the All-SEC freshman team. Defensive end Marlon Davidson and cornerback Javaris Davis made the team last season.
