College Football Awards Show: Roundup, winners

The Home Depot College Football Awards Show took place on Thursday night on ESPN with plenty of winners from across the country.

There was only one Big Ten winner on the evening.

The first conference award went to the Iowa Wave, which took home the Disney Spirit Award.

The best new tradition in college football is rightfully recognized.

And though he’s not technically getting honored for his work at his new job at Nebraska, Scott Frost was named Coach of the Year after helping UCF to an undefeated season thus far.

Here are other winners.

Baker Mayfield, who also won the Walter Camp Award earlier in the day, took home the Davey O’Brien Award for the nation’s best quarterback.

The Jim Thorpe Award for the nation’s top defensive back went to Alabama’s Minkah Fitzpatrick.

James Washington of Oklahoma State won the Biletnikoff Award as the country’s top receiver.

An award that some thought may go to Penn State’s Saquon Barkley, the Doak Walker Award for the nation’s best running back, went to Stanford’s Bryce Love.

Mayfield also won the Maxwell Award as the country’s Player of the Year.
