Of course, Auburn coach Gus Malzahn won’t give anyone a peek up his sleeve before playing the No. 1 team in the country which also happens to be a rival. However, he gave a clue that he may be hiding a lot.

While one figures that he’ll pull some rabbits out of his hat out of necessity, since he’s facing arguably the nation’s best defense, he also gave an indication that he’ll do so out of desire.

On Friday, Malzahn joined SEC Network’s Paul Finebaum and Laura Rutledge to discuss the game and gave this answer when Rutledge asked him if he’s considered trick plays.

“Well first of all, this is a big game. Obviously, it was a very tough loss last year. From a coach’s standpoint, it’s something that you think about in the offseason and everything that goes with it,” Malzahn said. “They’re very good. They’re a very good team. They got very good coaches. So you know, if you’re asking do we save a few things? It’s possible.”

Malzahn, who doesn’t smile too often, did at the very end of that response.

While it’s entirely probable that Malzahn would dial up curveballs in any game, his answer seemed to hint that he knows he faces a challenging defense and wants to do whatever it takes to prevent losing another heartbreaker to the Bulldogs.

In fact, Malzahn referenced last season’s loss on multiple occasions during the interview.

“It’s a big game. It is every year, and like I said, last year was just … that’s a tough one. That was a tough one. They didn’t score an offensive touchdown and they beat us. So for our guys, it’s a big game, and I’m glad it’s finally here.”

No. 10 Auburn will look to snap a three-game skid when it plays top-ranked Georgia on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
