Dayton Dragons turf manager wins national award

Britt Barry wins mowing patterns contest

Britt Barry, the sports turf manager for the Dayton Dragons, won the fourth annual Sports Turf Managers Association Mowing Patterns Contest, the organization announced Tuesday.

The winning design, which featured the Dragons logo in center field at Fifth Third Field, was chosen in a Facebook vote from Oct. 21 to Nov. 18.

“Britt continues to pave the way for the sports turf industry by producing stunning mowing patterns,” said Kim Heck, CEO of the STMA in a press release. “He has managed to strike the perfect balance of safety, play-ability and visual appeal at Fifth Third Field.”

Barry is a Wilmington College graduate. He has worked for the Lexington Legends, Brooklyn Cyclones and New York Mets.
