Fairfield’s Malik Vann verbally commits to the Cincinnati Bearcats

The Cincinnati Bearcats can celebrate a major recruiting pickup with the verbal commitment of four-star defensive end Malik Vann.

A senior-to-be at Fairfield High School, Vann announced his decision Tuesday afternoon.

“First off I want to thank God for blessing me with the talent and ability to play the game that I love at a high level and to thank my parents, my family, the Gooslin family and Koger Family,” Vann wrote.

“Also to my coaches that I’ve had to this point in my life for the support they gave and showed me and being there throughout my process. It’s been a journey… And I have made my deicision. For the next 4-5 years, I will be playing for The University of Cincinnati!!”

Vann is the fifth player from the 2018 class to commit to first-year head coach Luke Fickell.

At No. 267 nationally, he is also the highest-rated in the 247sports composite rankings.

Vann is among a large group of highly regarded prospects in the area for 2018, one that includes Fairfield teammate Jackson Carman, a five-star offensive tackle prospect.

Carman was among the visitors at Ohio State's spring game last weekend.
