Former Dayton forward Pollard signs with Jazz

Chicago native had G League tryout in August

Former Dayton Flyers forward Kendall Pollard signed a free-agent contract with the Utah Jazz on Friday.

The Jazz announced the signing Friday evening on Twitter. Pollard, a Chicago native who was one of four senior starters to graduate in the spring, participated in a NBA G League tryout in his hometown in August.

At the time, Pollard said, “Hopefully, I’ll get a training camp invite or a two-way contract. I have to weigh my options. If the option’s overseas and it’s not too far from the G League financially, then I’d choose to stay here. If it’s significantly different, obviously I’d go overseas. There are opportunities everywhere. I just want to go with the one that best fits me and have fun and be put into a good situation in a good city.”

The G League used to be known as the D League, or developmental league. The Jazz have a team called the Stars in Salt Lake City.

Pollard finished his college career in March with 1,171 points. He ranks 35th in school history.
