Former Dayton guard finds new home 17 days after entering portal

Kobe Elvis will play for his third different program

Former Dayton Flyers guard Kobe Elvis announced his commitment to Oklahoma on Tuesday.

Elvis, a 6-foot-2 guard from Brampton, Ont., entered the transfer portal on April 6 after three seasons with the Flyers. He played one season at DePaul and then appeared in 86 games and started 80 games over three seasons at Dayton, averaging a career-best 9.4 points and 3.5 assists this past season.

Oklahoma finished 20-12 last season and missed the NCAA tournament for the third straight season. Coach Porter Moser is entering his fourth season with the school.

Elvis is the first Flyer to transfer from Dayton to a Power 5 program since Rodney Chatman left for Vanderbilt in 2021. Oklahoma will leave the Big 12 and join the Southeastern Conference in the 2024-25 season.
