University of Alabama football coach Nick Saban and University of Cincinnati men's basketball coach Mick Cronin will speak to a sold out crowd tonight at the 25th annual Pigskin Roundball Spectacular at the Manor House Banquet and Conference Center in Mason.

“We’ve had great crowds the last five or six years, and we’ll have another one this year so we’re pleased with that,” said Mark Kerns, the event founder and past president.

Saban’s presence marks the third time in six years a coach with a national championship on his resume will speak at the Pigskin Roundball Spectacular (Jim Tressel 2009, Urban Meyer 2012).

Saban led LSU to the national title in 2003 before guiding the Crimson Tide to championships in 2009, 2011 and 2012. He owns a 165-57-1 record in the college ranks and also was the head coach of the Miami Dolphins for two seasons from 2005-06.

Cronin has rebuilt the UC program following the departure of his mentor Bob Huggins, leading the Bearcats to four consecutive NCAA tournament appearances. He is 162-107 with the Bearcats and 231-131 overall after going 69-24 in three seasons at Murray State.

In addition to the keynote speakers, audience members will be treated to a Silver Anniversary celebration commemorating the 25th year of the Pigskin Roundball Spectacular.

“We’re doing to some things with that, some special recognitions, but we’ll keep that a secret until it’s over with what that actually is,” Kerns said.
