Indians, Reds push All-Star voting on final day

Thursday is the last day of MLB All-Star voting, and several Indians and Reds are on the brink.

Cincinnati’s Zack Cozart is clinging to a slight lead over the Dodgers’ Corey Seager in NL shortstop voting: 2,260,205 to 2,151,923.

Cleveland’s Jose Ramirez is second in third baseman voting, but still trails the Twins’ Miguel Sano despite leading his position in doubles, runs and steals.

Francisco Lindor is second at shortstop, with Jason Kipnis and Edwin Encarnacion third in their respective second base and designated hitter spots. Michael Brantley, fresh off a DL stint, is fourth in outfielder voting.

Indians manager Terry Francona will coach the AL All-Stars.

First baseman Joey Votto is the only other Red who’s in the top five of voting, and his deficit is too much to overcome. Votto’s destiny is up to Joe Madden and staff.

Rosters will be announced Sunday. The All-Star Game is July 11 in Miami.
