C.J. Brown Reservoir: Good crappie fishing has been reported at the marina, mostly on minnows. Fish along the rocks on the west bank to catch walleyes and bass. Anglers have been trolliung with crawler harnesses and brightly colored twisterss. Bass have been hitting spinnerbaits and deep diving crankbaits. Fish around the boat ramp for bluegills with waxworms.
Clark Lake: A large number of crappies have been caught, mostly with minnows. Stocked rainbow trout are still being caught with waxworms, trout baits and small inline spinners,
Caesar Creek Lake: There has been some flooding and boat ramps have been under water, but the lake is not in bad shape. Saugeye fishing has picked up on the flats. Try tightlining a nightcrawler or trolling a crawler harness. Bass are tight to the banks. Use spinnerbaits or plastics in shallow water. Crappies have been hitting minnows in water 6-15 feet deep. Look for structure. A few muskies have been caught under the Ohio 73 Bridge and by bass fishermen.
Lake Loramie: Crappies are still hitting, despite muddy water. Use dark colored jigs tipped with a minnow or waxworm. Catfish are everywhere, hitting nightcrawlers and cut shad. Bass are on the banks, hitting spinnerbaits and plastic worms.
Cowan Lake: "The lake looks like chocolate milk," said a local fisherman. The best crappie fishing has been around the island, using minnows. Bass are still close to the banks.
Grand Lake St. Marys: Crappies have scattered. Anglers had been landing crappies up to two pounds, but muddy water and wind have kept catches down. Look for good crappie fishing to continue as the water clears. Plenty of catfish have been caught on cut shad and nightcrawlers.
Indian Lake: The saugeyes are still going strong along the south bank, Lakeview humps, donut harbor, the old game reserve and Orchard Island. Vib-Es, Vibra-Max and Carolina rigging have worked best. Catfish are biting all over the lake on all the usual baits.
Lake Erie: Weather conditions have limited fishing opportunities recently. When conditions have allowed, walleyes were caught with jigs on the reefs north of the Camp Perry firing range and nearshore from Turtle Creek to "K" can of the Camp Perry firing range. Walleyes have also been caught by trolling near "K" can, west of the Bass Islands and to a lesser extent around Kelleys Island. For Lake Erie information, visit wildohio.gov.
Maumee River: The annual run is slowing, but there are still many walleyes in the river along with many white bass.
Sandusky River: Not much pressure. Plenty of walleyes and white bass.
