Reliever Jeff Manship failed his physical and his contract with the Cincinnati Reds was voided Thursday, according to a release from the team.

Manship was signed last week by the Reds. He played for Cleveland in 2016 where he had a 3.12 ERA while appearing in 53 games. He played for the Korea Baseball Organization in 2017.

The team signed veteran infielder Cliff Pennington to a minor league deal. Pennington played last season for the Los Angeles Angels and appeared in 87 games. He began his career in Oakland in 2008. He’s hit .243, 36 home runs and 242 RBIs over 10 years with a .310 on-base percentage.
