Ohio State WR Noah Brown declaring for NFL draft

The biggest surprise of the Buckeyes postseason, Ohio State wide receiver Noah Brown declared for the 2017 NFL draft on his personal Twitter account Saturday night.

“I have decided it is time for me to move on to the next level,” Brown wrote. “I have decided to forgo my remaining years of eligibility and declare for the 2017 NFL draft.”

Ohio State had three early departures for the draft, Brown becomes the fourth and the most questionable. He was a redshirt sophomore and would have had two more years of eligibility.

He played as a true freshman in 2014 and had one catch for nine yards. He was expected to replace Devin Smith as the team’s deep threat and top end zone target in 2015 following Ohio State’s national title win, but after a spectacular camp, he suffered a serious knee injury and missed the season.

The 6-foot-2, 218-pound junior was Ohio State’s biggest receiver. He had 32 catches for 402 yards and seven touchdowns in 2016. He caught four touchdowns in Ohio State’s win at Oklahoma. He was second on the team in receiving as part of an offense that struggled passing.
