Proposed law could offer protections to Ohio fantasy sports players

A state senator from Ohio has proposed a bill that would affirm the legality of fantasy sports in the state.

Senate Bill 375 “is aimed at addressing concerns about whether the contests are permitted under existing law,” including a federal law passed in 2006.

“Our legislation creates state-level consumer protections for the growing number of Ohioans participating in these contests and achieves my goals for allowing Ohioans to continue to do so,” bill author Dave Burke (R-Marysville) said in a news release. “This provides common sense transparency and protections for consumers.”
