Reds’ CEO on status of Brandon Phillips: ‘I don’t have a crystal ball’

Will Brandon Phillips be the Reds starting second baseman in 2017?

That’s been one of the big questions of this offseason, so it came as little surprise a fan asked team CEO Bob Castellini about the former All-Star on Thursday night during a team caravan stop.

Castellini said he doesn't have a crystal ball and hopes everything turns out well for the veteran, who reportedly turned down a trade to the Braves in November.

The team president did not rule out seeing him in the lineup, either.

Throughout the offseason there has been speculation the Reds could trade Phillips, shortstop Zack Cozart or both to make room for young utility player Jose Peraza and second base prospect Dilson Herrera.
