H.S. Results for 5/18: Centerville baseball advances to district

Joey Hecht was dominant on the mound and two Centerville players hit home runs in an 11-1 sectional final win against Northmont on Thursday.

Hecht threw a complete game, scattering three hits and striking out nine to earn the win.

Jake Whisman hit a grand slam and Riley Poulton added a homer to lead Centerville offensively.

Centerville will face Milford on Saturday at Western Hills with a Division I district title at stake.


Vandalia 2, Beavercreek 1: Joe Jackson’s sacrifice fly in the eighth inning gave Vandalia the edge and a D-I sectional title. Vandalia will play Fairfield in a district final on Saturday at Western Hills.

Lebanon 2, Loveland 1: Cole Perduk and Nick Taylor collected a pair of hits apiece and Tommy Brosnahan was the winning pitcher for Lebanon in this D-I sectional final. Lebanon moves on to face St. Xavier in a district final on Saturday at Western Hills.

Boys Volleyball

Edgewood 3, Hamilton 1: David Testas tallied 12 aces with 16 kills, Logan Flynn had 13 kills with three blocks and Phil Applegate tacked on four kills and a block to pace Edgewood.
