H.S. Results for 2/2/17: Unbeaten Tri-Village holds off Arcanum

Rachel Miller scored 18 points Thursday and Danika Mann 15 as Tri-Village moved closer to an unbeaten season and a Cross County Conference championship by fending off Arcanum, 47-43, in high school girls basketball.

Tri-Village (19-0, 11-0) came into Thursday one game ahead of Arcanum (13-7, 9-2) in the conference standings. Covington (16-5, 10-1) remains a game behind Tri-Village after its 48-36 win Thursday over National Trail.

Miller drained four 3-point goals for Tri-Village, which concludes its conference schedule Thursday at Bradford. She scored 8 in the fourth quarter.

Stevie Johnting scored 13 to lead Arcanum and Madie O’Daniel added 8.

Girls Basketball

Bellbrook 45, Valley View 23: Cassidy Hofacker scored 17 and Bekah Vine 11 as Bellbrook moved to 16-3, 10-0.

Coldwater 60, New Bremen 37: Coldwater improved to 15-3, 6-2. Jane Homan led New Bremen with 12.

Covington 48, National Trail 36: Samantha Whiteman’s 17 points and 14-for-14 free throw shooting as a team helped Covington move to 16-5, 10-1. JaLynn Byrd led National Trail with 11.

Delphos St. John’s 54, St. Henry 50: Madilynn Schulte of St. John’s scored 17 of her 28 points in the fourth quarter after being shut out in the third. Four players scored 9 points each for St. Henry: Kendra Rose, Danielle Lange, Allison Steffring and Nikki Keller.

Fort Loramie 61, Houston 36: Fort Loramie outscored Houston, 41-11, in the second half. Reyan Frey led Fort Loramie (13-5) with 14 points.

Fort Recovery 65, Parkway 31: Nine players scored for Fort Recovery, led by Whitney Will (16) and Grace Thien (14). Parkway’s Haley Hawk had 9 points and 7 rebounds.

Franklin 55, Carlisle 35: Franklin trailed after the first quarter but pulled away behind Leah Ferrell’s 17 points.

Franklin Monroe 76, Mississinawa Valley 31: Belle Cable (17 points), Audrey Cable (16), Corina Conley (16) topped Franklin Monroe.

Madison 65, Eaton 47: It was the battle of Eaton’s Bailee and Bailey (Worley and Shepard) vs. Madison’s Lillie and Lilly (Runnels and Campbell). Shepard scored 16 and Worley 12 for Eaton. Runnels had 14, including four 3-point goals, and Campbell 13 for Madison. Kenzie Saunders scored 16 to help Madison climb to 11-8, 7-4.

Mechanicsburg 49, West Jefferson 38: Morgan Hamby and Mikayla Dodane scored 17 apiece for Mechanicsburg.

Miami East 48, Urbana 24: Haley Howard scored 14, Bailey Miller 13 for Miami East. Alaina Lyons had 12 points and 5 rebounds for Urbana.

Milton-Union 49, Dixie 37: Taylor Jacobs (13 points) and Elizabeth Renner (10) helped Milton-Union climb to 14-5, 8-2. Mckinlee Ruppert had 16 for Dixie.

Newton 46, Bradford 41: Tatum McBride scored 20 for Newton (11-6), Mandi Bates 25 for Bradford.

Preble Shawnee 50, Ponitz 36: Brianna Lyle led Ponitz with 12 points.

Stivers 52, Meadowdale 15: Emily Fletcher of Stivers had a triple-double with 18 points, 17 rebounds, and 10 blocked shots.

Versailles 43, New Knoxville 32: Nine players scored for Versailles (16-3, 7-1), including Brenna Blakeley (8) and Danielle Winner (8). Kenzie Schroer topped New Knoxville with 11.

Waynesville 45, Monroe 35: Waynesville (18-1, 10-1) picked up a big win in the Southwestern Buckeye League over Monroe (15-4, 8-3). Rachel Murray led the Spartans with 18 points. Katie Sloneker topped Monroe with 15.

West Liberty-Salem 67, Fairbanks 23: West Liberty-Salem led, 39-5, at halftime. Lily Yoder scored 15 for WLS.

Boys Bowling

Miamisburg 2738, Springboro 2270: Miamisburg set two school team records behind Casey Jackson (280), Sam Fisher (268), Tim Fisher (222), Matt Barton (213) and Logan Born (212).

Sidney 2410, Troy 2280: Austin Simon had a 487 series, Josh Abbott and Sean Martin 422 each for unbeaten Sidney (15-0).

Miamisburg 2331, Springboro 1566: Four bowlers had 200 games for GWOC leader Miamisburg (13-1): Sarah Boone (226, 204), Skylar Born (215, 211), Crissy Journell (221), and Brittney Sheehan (212).

Southeastern 1967, Catholic Central 1874: Harley Taylor led Southeastern with a 411 series.

Troy 2288, Sidney 2056: Heather Gold of Sidney set a school record with a 298 game that included 11 consecutive strikes. Gold had shot 214 in her first game.
