The Texas Rangers designated relief pitcher Mike Hauschild for assignment on Thursday. The University of Dayton and Beavercreek High School graduate made his big-league debut on April 8 and had an 11.25 ERA in eight innings and four appearances.
On Wednesday in a 9-1 loss to the Athletics in Oakland, Hauschild allowed five earned runs on seven hits in 3 1/3 innings. He gave up three home runs.
Hauschild, who the Rangers took from the Astros in the Rule 5 draft, will now go through the waiver process. If no one claims him, the Rangers must offer him back to Astros for $50,000.
