Dayton rallies from 13-point deficit to beat Saint Louis

Dayton trailed 33-20 two minutes into the second half. It tied the game at 37-37 on a jumper by Trey Landers at the 10:39 mark. Dayton took its first lead of the second half on a 3-pointer by Jordan Davis at the 3:41 mark.

Jalen Crutcher made 1 of 2 free throws with seven seconds left, and Javon Bess missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer.

Dayton won its second straight game, improving to 13-14 and 7-8 in the Atlantic 10. It’s the second two-game winning streak of the season for the Flyers.

FIRST-HALF RECAP

The Dayton Flyers played about as poorly as they can play in a half at home, at least on offense, and trailed Saint Louis 29-29 at halftime Tuesday night.

Dayton tied its season low for points scored in the first half. It also had 20 points in the first half in a loss at Mississippi State.

Key stat: The Flyers committed eight turnovers to four by Saint Louis. Darrell Davis had three turnovers for Dayton. Two came on back-to-back possessions.

Dayton's star: Trey Landers leads Dayton with five points. He banked in a 3-pointer for the first points in the game.

Saint Louis star: Davell Roby made 4 of 7 shots from the field and scored 11 points.

Big run: Dayton led 12-11. Then Saint Louis went on a 9-0 run over the next five-plus minutes. Neither team scored in an almost four-minute stretch.

Big play: Dayton cut the deficit to 26-20 on a layup by Kostas Antetokounmpo with 35 seconds left. Aaron Hines hit a 3-pointer with four seconds left to give the Billikens a nine-point halftime lead.
