WEEK 8: Springboro’s Kuhbander breaks state record

Springboro’s Charlie Kuhbander broke the OHSAA state record for career points by a kicker in a 66-42 victory over visiting Fairborn in Friday night high school football.

The four-year starter connected on all nine of his extra-point attempts and added a 37-yard field goal to push his career total to 286 points, breaking the previous mark of 282 held by Michael Busch of Findlay Liberty-Benton.

Quarterback Brody Mahle tossed five touchdowns and threw for 290 yards as Springboro (6-2) won its third straight game. Tyler Tischler had 107 yards receiving and Nick Kovacs had 125.

Garison Secrest eclipsed 300 yards passing, connecting on four touchdown passes—two to Brandon Easterling—as Fairborn dropped to 1-7.

Valley View 42, Oakwood 41: Oakwood's Nic Amongero caught a 7-yard touchdown pass from Brian Erbe with no time on the clock, but Valley View (7-1, 3-1 SWBL Southwestern) stopped the Lumberjacks' 2-point conversion attempt. Colin Genslinger scored three TDs for the visiting Spartans. Erbe threw for 466 yards and three TDs for the Jacks (2-6, 2-2), who recovered an onside kick to set up their last score.

Brookville 55, Eaton 28: Junior Bailey Wallen piled up seven TDs en route to a 382-yard rushing performance for Brookville (5-3, 2-2 SWBL Southwestern). Both achievements are new school records.

Troy 31, Sidney 6: The host Trojans won the 104th meeting between the two schools. Hayden Kotwica had TD passes to Matt McGillivary, Josh Browder, and Zion Taylor. Sam Jackson snagged his fifth interception in the last two weeks for Troy (7-1, 3-0 GWOC American North).

Centerville 24, Northmont 23: The Elks (3-5) overcame four missed PAT tries to register two second-half comebacks to nip Northmont (3-5).

Tippecanoe 7, Greenville 6: Cole Barhorst broke open a scoreless game with a fourth-quarter TD run for Tipp (6-2, 2-1 GWOC American North). Greenville (3-5, 0-3) answered with a 52-yard score from Devin Hendrix, but the ensuing kick failed.

Trotwood-Madison 50, Stebbins 21: Kobe Vinegar and Kennedy Coates each had fumble returns for touchdowns to lead the Rams (7-1, 3-0 GWOC American South). Tyler Kennedy had a 72-yard fumble return for Stebbins (2-6, 0-3).

Xenia 41, West Carrollton 6: Xenia's Meechi Harris had 136 yards receiving and two TDs, while Javon Ramsey rushed 11 times for 106 yards and two scores.

Wayne 35, Fairmont 0: Fred Pitts scored three times for Wayne (7-0-1, 3-0 GWOC National East).

Alter 48, Badin 0: The host Knights moved to 8-0 with their second shutout. Jack Mochty had two TD receptions, and Holden Rushing added two TD runs for the Knights.

Bellbrook 42, Northridge 0: Junior Ethan Savey rushed for three touchdowns to help Bellbrook (5-3) snap a three-game losing streak.

Madison 51, Dixie 25: Cameron Svarda scored five touchdowns for Madison (5-3, 2-2 SWBL Buckeye). Ethan Arnett had three TDs for Dixie (4-4, 2-2).

Coldwater 14, Versailles 7: Dylan Thobe's third quarter TD run broke a 7-7 tie to lead Coldwater (7-1, 5-1 MAC) to its 13th straight victory over the Tigers (4-4, 3-3).
