John Kasich says many women 'left their kitchens' to come out to support him

While at a campaign stop in Virginia on Monday, Ohio Gov. John Kasich bragged about an army volunteers knocking on doors for him "and many women who left their kitchens to go out door to door and put yard signs up for me..."

A woman in the crowd told Kasich she would support him but that she wasn't coming out of her kitchen to do so.

The Ohio Democratic Party pounced on the clumsy remark as well, saying Kasich was giving Mad Men's Don Draper a run for his money.

Ohio Democratic Party Chairman David Pepper said in a written statement: “When you look at John Kasich’s record of attacking women’s health care and opposing equality for women, it’s not surprising to hear him say things that come straight out of the 1950s. Women represent 47 percent of the American workforce, but Kasich seems blissfully unaware. Today’s statement is the latest evidence of this fact -- John Kasich is no moderate.”
