Marijuana campaign spent $11.96 million in 4 months

ResponsibleOhio, the campaign organization behind Issue 3, raised $12.4 million and spent $11.96 million over four months, according to finance reports filed with the Ohio Secretary of State.

The spending includes $5.8 million for television ad buys, $2.5 million for mailings and $2.3 million to The Strategy Network for campaign management.

The 10 investor groups that are positioned to control commercial growing operations contributed $11.9 million while The Strategy Network contributed $455,787 to the campaign in other income.

Issue 3 is a proposed constitutional amendment to legalize marijuana for recreational and medical use by adults ages 21 and older, name 10 commercial growing sites, establish a state regulatory body and allow for limited home growing.
