Ohio voters support medical weed, poll says

"It has become pretty common knowledge that marijuana can be incredibly beneficial in the treatment of a variety of medical conditions," said MPP spokesman Mason Tvert in a written statement.

The poll, conducted Feb. 17-18, found 74 percent of Ohio voters support it while 22 percent oppose it. The survey has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.8 percentage points.

Ohioans for Medical Marijuana is drafting a ballot initiative and plans to start circulating petitions later this month, according to MPP.

In November, Ohio voters soundly rejected a plan to amend the state constitution to legalize marijuana for medical and recreational use. The proposed amendment would have granted exclusive growing rights to the 10 investor groups that were bankrolling the campaign.
