Auto dealer buys interstate property for $5.1 million

It appears that one of the area’s busiest auto dealers is making his move.

Mall Park Properties — a limited liability company tied to Miami Twp. auto dealer Matthew Castrucci — bought 37-plus acres at and around 490 Byers Road for $5.1 million last week.

The purchase should be expected. Last year, Castrucci told the Dayton Daily News exclusively that the Castrucci group of auto dealerships is planning a move from Mall Park Drive in the Dayton Mall area southwest to a new location on 37 acres near Byers and Lyons roads, to an area where the dealer’s space would effectively double.

Castrucci, at the time, said he had a contract on land northeast of Byers and Lyons, a pact that expired in February 2018. One half of the property had the business zoning he requires for a dealership move, but the other part of the property did not, he said then.

He said he was working with city officials on the zoning.

“Space-wise, I have to do something,” Castrucci said last November. “I realize that I (the dealership property) look older here. Everything needs an update for sure. I want to move.”

In July, Miamisburg City Manager Keith Johnson said he expected a developer to officially file paperwork on the land soon. Johnson noted at the time that a “couple of developers” have expressed interest in the site but he did not then name Castrucci.

The seller of the land was Hieronymus Management Co., according to Montgomery County property records.

Matthew Castrucci is listed as the registrant for Mall Park Properties in state business filings.

Messages were sent to Castrucci dealership representatives and the city of Miamisburg.
