“Over the past two years, we have shown the significant benefit that GE Aviation can provide customers by combining our depth of aviation product knowledge with the rapidly growing technologies around digital and analytics,” said David Joyce, president and chief executive officer of GE Aviation, in a written statement.
“We have only taken our first steps in this journey and the GE Aviation Digital organization will be the driving force to achieve aggressive goals for operational value for our customers.”
GE Aviation Digital will support operations of customers across the aviation system by leveraging data science, domain expertise and software capabilities to increase productivity and minimize down time. In addition to bringing an enhanced digital capability to the 35,000 engines that GE Aviation monitors every day, GE and customers are working together on new opportunities to grow and deliver more productivity beyond traditional services, according to GE Aviation.
The General Electric Co. announced last fall it had established the new GE Digital unit to grow industrial Internet capabilities.
