Recall Roundup: Hair dryers, blending containers and more

Dangerous hair dryers and blender cups are among the new recalls announced by the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Xtava is recalling nearly a quarter of a million Allure and Allure Pro hair dryers after 18 people reported burns — one case was severe — and two people reported a mild electrical shock.

There are 193 reports of the hair dryers and power cords exploding, catching on fire, melting and overheating.

Don’s use the Pro 2200 ionic ceramic hair dryers with the SKU numbers XTV010001, XTV010001N, XTV010002 and XTV010002N, and contact Xtava at 877-643-8440 to receive a free replacement.

Eleven people have reported being cut by exposed blades on the Vitamix Ascent and Venturist Series blending containers, in the 8-ounce and 20-ounce sizes.

The recalled blades have a date code of 03-18 or earlier.   Already repaired blades will have a green or orange dot on the bottom of the blade base.

Don’t use the recalled containers and contact Vitamix for a free repair kit at 888-847-8842.

Two models of electronic handgun safes by Harbor Freight Tools can open without the use of a key or combination, which could put children and others in danger.

Union Safe Company safes with the SKU number 62984 and Bunker Hill Security safes with the SKU 61581 are under recall because impact can cause them to open.

No incidents have been reported but don’t use the recalled safes and contact Harbor Freight Tools at 800-444-3353 for a gift card refund.

Flashlights are being recalled because they are missing a circuit board cap which could cause an explosion hazard.

The Koehler-Bright Star WorkSafe 3-D cell flashlights with the model number 2224 LED without a date code are included in the recall.  No explosions have been reported.

Don’t use the flashlights and contact Koehler-Bright Star at 800-788-1696 for free replacement parts.

Honda is recalling all 2018 CRF250R off-road motorcycles in red.

There are 19 reports of clutch failures, which could cause crashes and injuries, but no one has been hurt.
