Now based in San Diego, Teradata names new CEO

Teradata — the big data company that last year moved its headquarters from Miami Twp. to San Diego — has appointed Oliver Ratzesberger its president and chief executive, succeeding Victor Lund, who will be the company’s executive chairman of its board of directors.

Teradata has also appointed Michael Gianoni — a board member since 2015 — as independent lead director. James Ringler, who had been chairman of Teradata since 2007, remains a board member, the company said.

Ratzesberger has served as Teradata’s chief operating officer since February 2018, Teradata said in a release this week. He joined the company in 2013 and, from 2016 to 2018, served as executive vice president and chief product officer, leading Teradata’s research and development efforts.

“While COO, Ratzesberger worked alongside Lund in architecting and implementing the company’s transformation,” the company said in an announcement. “This appointment reflects the board’s confidence in Ratzesberger as Lund’s successor, and in the continued execution of the company’s strategy as well as the development of its culture and values.”

Last year, Teradata closed its Austin Landing offices and moved to Rancho Bernardo, Calif., adding 200 jobs to 300 that were already there. California media reported last year that the company was averaging 35 new hires there a month.
