Ghost walks and more: 8 Butler County events to check out this week

Here are 10 events to check out the week of Oct. 21-27:

Howl at the Moon

This educational, family-oriented Halloween event will feature an “autumn market,” with local artists, crafters, and vendors, live music by the Jericho Old Time Band, and an interactive “creepy creature” exhibit, featuring snakes, spiders, and rats courtesy of a local naturalist. Trunk or Treat

Uptown Trick-Or-Treat

Game Show Nite

Have you been applying to be on “Jeopardy” since 1988 and never once got a callback? Come to Game Show Nite, a game show/comedy show that combines elements of classic game shows such as trivia, word puzzles, and even wheel-spinning. The show is partially scripted, but the games are real and, most important, the prizes are real. Dayton Lane Ghost Walk Tour

This ghost walk adds a bit of Victorian antiquity. Armed with a lantern, you will stroll through one of Hamilton’s oldest neighborhoods, looking for spirits and accompanied by paranormal investigators, animal communicators, and Victor Paruta, a psychic consultant who runs the Victory of Light Psychic Festival every year. Meet in the Dayton Lane Historic District at 900 Campbell Ave. in Hamilton on Oct. 27 from 6-10 p.m. Tickets are $15-$20. Ghosts & Ghouls Costume Ball

Dress up in your spookiest and mosey on out to a costume ball at the Windamere, which will be decked out for the occasion. The night will include a costume contest, a cash bar, spooky snacks, and interactive games. Dangerous Jim and the Slims, a high-energy rock band with horns, will provide the live entertainment while you boogie the night away. Each ticket comes with a complimentary cocktail ticket. Falloween Fest

This daylong festival that celebrates both Halloween and the fall season will include crafters and vendors handing out tricks and treats, a balloon artist, temporary glitter tattoos, face painting, food, music, and a raffle drawing. John McEuen & The String Wizards

John McEeuen is a legendary folk musician and founder of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.
