Don't take this the wrong way, but this kid is probably nicer than you.

Eight-year-old Collin Schaefer set a goal to collect 200 handmade Christmas cards for children being treated at Dayton Children's Hospital in 2016.

He collected 800 cards instead.

For Christmas 2017, the New Carlisle boy brought in 1,700 cards, and this past Christmas, he collected a whopping 5,982 cards with the help of Cub Scout Pack 338, teachers at Tecumseh Local School District, friends and his folks, Steve and Cathi Schaefer, as well as other family members.

Q: Why is this project important to you?

I want the children in the hospital on Christmas to be happy with a smile on their faces spending time with family. I don't want the kids to be scared because they're in the hospital. I want them to feel safe and loved.

Q: What do you do for fun?

I like to play video games, watch movies, read books, play with friends, and spend time with family. I also play football and basketball.

Q: Why do you think it is important for kids to give back?

It is important because we need to help our communities, the environment, and always be kind and friendly to everyone we meet.

Q: What is your hope for this community?

I wish one day there will be no sick citizens (Americans) and especially kids, a clean and healthy world, and everyone smiles and says hello to each other.
