Chart-topper Brantley Gilbert brings rockin’ country show to town

While Brantley Gilbert is more rock ’n’ roll than your average Nashville star, he has been enthusiastically embraced by fans and radio programmers of modern country music. The Georgia native, returning to the Nutter Center in Fairborn on Thursday, April 26, has placed a total of 17 songs on Billboard’s country charts: four number one hits and five Top 10 singles.

Gilbert recently discussed new music and his current The Ones That Like Me Tour with special guests Aaron Lewis and Josh Phillips.

FAN FEEDBACK

“We actually did something on this tour we haven’t done before. We wanted to make sure the fans that stuck by us were seeing what they wanted to see and hearing what they wanted to hear so it was socially media-driven. We asked folks to list songs we haven’t had in the set in tours past or something they wanted to see. A lot of folks wanted to see an acoustic set, so we’ve brought one back into the show and we added a couple of songs they wanted to hear that we’d taken out of the set. The feedback has been absolutely amazing and the shows have been more than we could’ve ever known to ask for.”

STAGE SHOW

“We started this tour more digitally-driven. We tried to do some bigger screens and different aspects of that but I missed all my fire so we brought all of those effects back. It’s been awesome. The guys have put together some awesome content. We always change the set a little bit and change the production a little bit. I’ve got a wonderful organization that comes together as a big family and a big team. They make the process pretty easy most of the time.”

NEW MATERIAL

“I always start the writing process again the minute a record comes out. I’ll write lightly in the beginning and more so as time moves forward as I start centering in on what this chapter of my life is and what songs tell the stories the best. We’ve been writing for a while and we’re starting to put the story together now and really see which songs tell the story the best. We’re starting to center in on what could be the next record. I don’t know how close we are to going into the studio but we’re definitely moving in that direction.”

When The Ones That Like Me wraps in August, Gilbert is joining Kid Rock and Wheeler Walker Jr. for the Red Blooded Rock N Roll Extravaganza Tour.
