The newest local brewery is hosting its grand opening TODAY

The Dayton region is getting yet another brewery, as the craft beer boom has showed no sign of slowing down.

Here are five things you should know about the opening of Devil Wind Brewing in downtown Xenia at 4 p.m. on Friday, March 30.

• Just here for the beer: Devil Wind will inaugurate its tasting room with six of its own beers, including a West Coast-style IPA, New England-style IPA, ESB (Extra Special Bitter), Oatmeal Stout, and a German-inspired Helles Lager.

• There will be food: The brewery has lined up two food trucks for opening night: Let's Wrap and Young's Jersey Dairy.

• Expect crowds: About 700 people have suggested on Facebook that they're either attending or are interested in attending Devil Wind's opening day. "We are expecting a huge crowd," co-founder David Hatfield said. The brewery's founders are seeking permission to house any potential overflow on a patio.

• The time is right: The brewery's hours on opening day will be 4 p.m. to midnight. Going forward, Devil Wind's hours are 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 4 p.m. to midnight on Friday, noon to midnight on Saturday, and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday, closed Monday.

• The owners are STOKED: "We're all excited," said co-founder David Hatfield. "This has been a journey of good friends, hard work, and true passion for craft beer."

The 3,000-square-foot brewery is located at 130 S. Detroit St. in downtown Xenia, just steps from the bike path. The brewery’s partners include Hatfield, Doug Lane, Michael Van Kirk and Perry Wyatt.
