The most common types of Hepatitis in the U.S. are Hepatitis A, B, and C. While each type has similar symptoms, there are differences in the transmission and effects of the viruses.

Hepatitis A (HAV) spreads when a person ingests the virus through objects, food, or drinks contaminated by feces from an infected person. Hepatitis B (HBV) spreads by having sex, through contact with blood, such as sharing injection drug equipment, and from an infected woman to her baby. Hepatitis C (HCV) spreads through the blood, such as sharing needles, syringes, or other equipment to inject drugs.

Individuals can get a free HCV test at the following places in Dayton - all open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.:
