This publication learned Friday NTPRD only has surveillance cameras in a few areas.
“Our first and only surveillance was added this past winter at the Carleton Davidson Stadium/Mitchell Boulevard Complex,” said Director Leann Castillo of the National Trail Parks and Recreation District. “At times we have used individual trail cameras to monitor wildlife and for grant reporting purposes.”
A few of those have been stolen, she added.
Security cameras for Splash Zone are being evaluated after the sexual assault was reported, said Castillo.
On Wednesday, a teen reported to the Springfield Police Division that she was sexually assaulted at the aquatic center on Saturday, June 30.
A 16-year-old girl told police she went to the restroom at the pool and an unknown male followed her inside and sexually assaulted her.
No arrest has been made.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Springfield Police at 937-324- 7716.
