Clay Twp. officer arrested on domestic violence against a child charge


Clay Twp. police officer Martin D. Stringfellow was arrested Wednesday by Brookville officers and charged with misdemeanor domestic violence against a child.

Stringfellow, 47, was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on Wednesday afternoon after a week-long investigation, according to Brookville police records. His bail is listed at $5,000 cash or surety.

A Brookville officer was dispatched to an elementary school on May 9 to assist the Children Service Bureau with a case of possible child abuse and spoke to the school’s principal, according to records.

Earlier today, the report said, Brookville prosecutor “Jeffrey Startzman advised to proceed with a charge of Domestic Violence.”

Online jail records indicate Stringfellow may be in court as early as Thursday morning. Clay Twp. police Sgt. James Hawkins said he couldn’t comment on Stringfellow’s arrest and deferred comment to Chief John Van Gundy, who the sergeant said had left for the day.
