Jayren Graham, 19, of Miami  Twp. — identified by a 911 caller as dishwasher for the hotel — was killed, according to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.

“I was outside getting ready to leave and I heard a gunshot,” the 911 caller said. “Our dishwasher was shot.”

Police and medics were called around 11:10 p.m. to the hotel, 300 Prestige Place, near the Dayton Mall, on a report of a shooting. Graham was pronounced dead at the scene.

“We’re looking for anyone who may have information about what transpired there in that parking lot last night between 10:30 and 11:30 — any suspicious, persons any observations anybody made,” said Miami Twp. Police Capt. John Magill. “Part of what may be important about this investigation is for people to call if they think that’s relevant or not.”

Anyone who was there and may have seen something is urged to contact detective Miami Twp. police detective Todd Comer 937-534-4066.

Regal Hospitality Inc. issued a statement following the shooting at its DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Hotel Dayton - Miamisburg.

A woman staying at a nearby hotel says multiple police and medic units were racing towards the scene while she and her son were walking to the local Walmart.

“It’s very tragic. I hope officers and investigators can find out what happened,” she said.

It's not clear what led to the shooting, however the 911 caller said he saw a vehicle come into the parking lot a few minutes before he heard the gunshot.

Police believe Graham was meeting someone in the hotel parking lot.

Magill said Graham had no criminal record with Miami Twp. and they do not know how many shots were fired.

A shooter and vehicle involved have not been identified, Magill said.
