A Dayton man will spend the next three decades in prison for killing his brother and brother’s girlfriend.
Willie Henry Jr., 43, was sentenced today to two 15-years-to-life prison terms for the June 21 double shooting on East Norman Avenue in Dayton, according to the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office.
Henry was inside a residence when he grabbed a shotgun and shot and seriously wounded his brother, 41-year-old Lavar Cottrell. Henry then shot his brother’s girlfriend, 41-year-old Barbara Goubeaux, who died at the scene.
Cottrell succumbed to his injuries July 6 at a Cincinnati medical facility.
At the time of the shootings, Henry was wanted for a possible probation violation, with an arrest warrant issued May 22 stemming from a 2015 robbery conviction.
Henry’s sentences are ordered to be served consecutively, and he will not be eligible for parole until he has served at least 30 years.
