FBI offers $15K reward for missing teen boy who saw father killed

DAYTON — A boy who witnessed his Beavercreek father being shot to death in a Riverside parking lot is still missing months after he disappeared, and today officials offered a $15,000 reward for information about the teenager.

NEW TODAY: Ex-wife, 5 others indicted in Beavercreek man’s death

Federal prosecutors and local law enforcement announced the reward to locate Jacob Lee Caldwell, who saw Robert Caldwell, his father, killed in August 2017. Jacob’s mother, Tawnney Caldwell, was indicted in connection with her ex-husband’s death, according to prosecutors today.

As for Jacob Caldwell’s disappearance, anyone with information is asked to call 937-310-3200 or visit online at tips.fbi.gov if you have information on his whereabouts.

The FBI believes Jacob Caldwell might not be in Ohio, and they said he might have a new look and identity. Officials also said they believe someone knows where the teenager is.

Jacob Caldwell and his two siblings saw their father shot and killed in a Riverside office building parking lot at Woodman Drive and Linden Avenue in broad daylight, investigators have said. Sterling H. Roberts had been held in connection with the shooting since his capture in South Carolina in the days after the shooting.

Custody of the Caldwell children was given to the grandparents, who reported that Jacob ran away Aug. 21.

Sugarcreek Twp. police Chief Michael Brown had said in September that the boy’s mother had been uncooperative in the search for her son, and police believed someone was helping Jacob Caldwell stay hidden.
