Christopher Russell, 31, of Franklin-Madison Road, has been identified as the man struck and killed Sunday afternoon by a train, according to Middletown police.
Russell was walking at about 2:45 p.m. just outside the wooden track at Yale Drive and Manchester Road, according police.
Train conductor Keith Long said Russell was walking northbound and “was very unsteady on his feet, weaving while he was walking,” according to the police report.
Russell was struck by the train and thrown about 60 feet, according to police. He was pronounced dead about 10 feet from the train in the 2200 block of Jewell Avenue.
Syringes were found in Russell’s wallet when he was hit by the train, according to police.

The report of a person hit by a train came in around 4 p.m. The train crash victim’s name, age and hometown were not available.
The person was struck near Jewell Avenue and Whittier Street, our news partner WCPO-TV in Cincinnati reported.
The Butler County Coroner’s Office arrived on the scene about 5:15 p.m.
According to initial reports, the person was struck on tracks near Manchester Road and Yale Drive in Middletown.
