The Butler County BURN unit had requested a Fairfield Twp. police officer go to a Fairfax Avenue address where a wanted suspect was about to leave, according to a township police report.
Sgt. Brandon McCroskey was parked in the 2000 block of Fairfax when he noticed a red Chevy Silverado ready to leave in front of a home. The pickup was owned by Thomas Edison Franklin Wooten, of 1254 Parkamo Ave. in Fairfield Twp.
The owner of the pickup had an outstanding possession and drug trafficking warrants, both third-degree felonies, from the Butler County Sheriff’s Office.
McCroskey activated his overhead lights and the pickup “accelerated rapidly” through the township neighborhood. The vehicle ran past a stop sign at Parkamo and Imlay avenues.
McCroskey ended the pursuit per the Fairfield Twp. policy and requested a “be on the lookout” be dispatched to Hamilton police officers.
An additional warrant was issued to Wooten for failure to comply with an order/signal of a police officer, a first-degree misdemeanor.
