Police: More arrests possible in Middletown weekend home invasion

Middletown police said there may be more arrests after a Saturday night break-in.

Sgt. Malcolm Tipton said police are still investigating the break-in in the 3100 block of Keays Avenue. Tipton said two people in the home were transported to Atrium Medical Center with minor injuries.

He refused to say if anything was stolen from the residence or how many people were in the home at the time of the alleged robbery.

On Monday, two Middletown men with lengthy criminal records were arrested and charged with felonies after they allegedly broke into a Middletown home Saturday night.

Robert Myers Jr., 29, and Justin Marcum, 29, were charged with aggravated burglary, a first-degree felony; and gang participation, a second-degree felony, according to the Middletown police department.

At Myers’ arraignment Monday morning, Judge James Sherron set his bond at $200,000, cash, surety or property. Myers will have his preliminary hearing at 2:30 p.m. on Jan. 22 in Middletown Municipal Court, according to records.

Marcum’s bond was set at $150,000, cash, surety or property, during his arraignment Monday afternoon. His preliminary hearing is set for 2:30 p.m. Jan. 22 in Middletown Municipal Court, according to records. Both men remain in the City Jail.

Since 2007, Myers has been charged with robbery, aggravated burglary, assault, drug abuse/heroin, drug abuse/instruments, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, driving under suspension, and intoxication, according to court records.

Marcum has been charged with criminal damaging, telephone harassment, domestic violence, drug abuse/marijuana, and numerous traffic offenses, court records showed.

At 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Middletown police received a call about a home invasion allegedly occurring in the 3100 block of Keays Avenue. Police were told several suspects had fled while officers were en route to the scene. At the scene, there were individuals that had sustained minor injuries, police said.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
